about

Original release information from 2003:

SWIFT hail from the “Camel City” (Winston-Salem) and formed in 1998, they quickly established themselves in the southeastern heavy music scene. With influences ranging from Foo Fighters and Radiohead to Testament, Pantera and Metallica they wanted to mesh the excitement and power of aggressive music and the beauty of melody and song structure.

They also focused on their stage show, attempting to captivate from a visual standpoint as well. In 1999 they released their debut EP "Thoughts Are Thought,” which has sold a stunning 2400 copies without the benefits of ANY distribution. This impressive amount of sales naturally garnered the attention of the major labels. Labels including the likes of MCA, Atlantic and Dreamworks all expressed an interest in signing SWIFT, but not wanting to sacrifice their creative control left SWIFT unable to sign away everything they had worked so hard to achieve.

They decided to forge on, independently, determined to succeed and to achieve that success on their own terms. So after touring and promoting throughout 2000 and 2001, SWIFT decided it was time to work on a new record. Both SWIFT and TRIBUNAL RECORDS realized that their goals of achieving success on their own terms were identical, so a partnership was born.

SWIFT’s TRIBUNAL RECORDS debut "Waging War" was simply a stunning release for an independent band, which is partially due to the exceptional production of drummer, Jamie King. Those of you not familiar with Jamie King's previous engineering work, please reference the latest releases by BLOODJINN, BELOVED and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. “Waging War” has received critical acclaim across the board. So TRIBUNAL RECORDS is now proud to bring you the re-issue of their debut release, “Thoughts Are Thought.” The original version was only ever pressed on CDR, and this new version also contains a multimedia segment featuring several promotional videos. During the “Thoughts Are Thought” era SWIFT were very similar to the Deftones.
